We would like to introduce our new Student Rabbi, Nehama Benmosche.

Nehama Benmosche

Our student rabbi, Nehama Benmosche, is entering her final year at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and will graduate in June 2010.  She is also currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education at the Jewish Theological Seminary, which she will also finish by the end of 2010.  This year Nehama will also serve as a Carpenter Foundation Intern, for the Jewish Family and Childrens' Service of Greater Philadelphia.

Nehama's comes to us after her position as the rabbinic intern at West End Synagogue in New York City where she conducted family services, ran their teen service learning programs and filled in as rabbinic and cantorial presence as needed.  Nehama also brings over ten years of experience in Jewish education, including work with interfaith families, children of all ages, as well as adult education.

Nehama has traveled to Jewish communities in Minsk, Belarus and Dubrovnik, Croatia and has lived in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.  While living in Israel she visited Ethiopia and two years later, this past January, returned toEthiopia to adopt her son, who hopes to join her in Sarasota whenever possible.

Nehama lives in Philadelphia with her partner Jacob, an RRC student, their son Eliyashu and their dog, a Pitpherdisian Ridgeback, named Maple.

We are all looking forward to Nehama's exceptional service leadership and varied teaching skills in our congregation.

Nehama will be will be with us on a regular basis over the next year, starting with the High Holy Days, which she will be leading together with our Ritual Director, Jennifer Singer.
